I'm running into a silly problem with our hosting provider.
They maximized plugin upload to 2Mb for shared hosting.
The Pro Free Download plugin version is 3,3 Mb. 🙁

The only way to get around this they say is upload the plugin directly via FTP.

Has anyone experience with this procedure??

I would love to get a how-to description about this...

About where to upload it and how it needs to be unpacked and installed?? 🙏

    Hi

Very odd for a host to do this - I would recommend looking at a new host to be honest 😀

But it is easy to do FTP

    1. Rename the plugin folder to be "_new" at the end or something
    2. Log into FTP an navigate to wp-content/plugins
    3. Upload this folder so you have no issues with conflict or site breaking
    4. Once uploaded - quickly rename the original folder to be "_bk" or similar
    5. Then remove "_new" from the uploaded folder

That is how I would do it safely. Sometimes overwriting can cause the files to be corrupted so doing it this way avoids this.

Hope this helps but moving host would be my suggestion - We use Cloudways and they are amazing and even have a plugin that can help you migrate across. Happy to help with more advise on this

    Thanks
    pete

    I would then

    Thanks Pete,

Quick question still: it seems when I look at the name of the current installed plugin folders there is no folder named 'free-downloads-for-woocommerce'.  Even though we now seem the have the free version of your app installed.

    You're writing:
Once uploaded - quickly rename the original folder to be "_bk" or similar

I do see a plugin folder called 'download-now-for-woocommerce'.
Is this folder the one you mean with 'the original folder'?

If not, where should I find the original one?
Because there is no folder called 'free downloads for woocommerce'...

And finally: what should I do with the old folder? Remove it?

    UPDATE

    Yes! 🙂
    Happy to announce it worked.

    Thanks!

Can I safely delete the old folder called 'download-now-for-woocommerce'?

Which brings me back to this question 🙁

    https://wpenhanced.com/community/forums/topics/cant-create-correct-elemenor-hello-product-page-template-for-free-download-fil/

I hoped it would be caused by not being able to activate the pro version of FDfW, but I still can't get this working.

I can't find a way to produce a product page with the Hello template I created where the checkout/download this PDF file results in the Free Download popup.

I tried using the Checkout widget, but that doesn't work.
